Sci-fi movies have always been a niche interest for the average viewer. Some do well, while others don’t, and there have always been multiple reasons why that might be the case. Some of them have VFX issues. Some of them are so inaccurate, even a five-year-old would be able to pick up on it and call them out. Then there are animated movies. The moment there’s a drawing style, or any sort of 2D or 3D animation, it’s deemed immediately as ‘for kids’. I’d agree, and disagree at the same time.
